Congregation Kol Am Clergy
Rabbi Brooks R. Susman received his ordination from the Hebrew Union
College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1974. In 1999, he received a Doctor
of Divinity degree from his Alma Mater. He has served congregations in the
Northeast, as well as Missouri.
He is the founding rabbi of
Congregation Kol Am, serving the Jewish community of southern Monmouth and
northern Ocean Counties. He is an adjunct professor at Brookdale Community
College and a key respondent for Jewish Values Online. He is on the
Board of Directors of the Association of Reform Zionists of America, a
founding member of Monmouth County Jewish Historical Museum and the
Monmouth Federation representative to The Jewish Council for Public Affairs
(JCPA).
Locally, he serves on the Human Relations Committee of Freehold Township. In 1995, he was awarded the first annual "Good Guy" award by the League of Women Voters of Nassau County, New York. The Board Room of Southern Adirondack Planned Parenthood was named in his honor. He is one of the authors of Gates of Mitzvah and Gates of the Seasons. He is the author of Kol Am's Prayerbook, T'filat Kol Am.
Rabbi Susman is the husband of Andrea. They live in Freehold where Rabbi Susman's interests include film, Jewish Humor, the Civil War and the literature and history of the Beat Generation.
