About Congregation Kol Am
It is not hard to give a chronology of events in the life of Congregation Kol Am -- it is filled with the events that constitute the world of a Reform Jewish temple -- Shabbat worship, holiday celebration, life cycle events, Religious School, Board meetings, committee meetings, fund-raisers etc.
What is much more difficult is to capture
the essence of who we are and what we offer to our members, far beyond the
activities themselves. Visitors who attend our services notice it
right away. There is a warmth and outreach between members and to
newcomers. There is richness to the song that fills our
"sanctuary," with almost global participation. The
magnificance of our Choir, which is fully volunteer, serves as one of our
most glowing examples of how much we can do within a small congregation.
Our teachers, choir director, cantorial soloist and temple
administrator are member volunteers; the webmaster and photographer are
member volunteers. Members care enough about the congregation to
devote extensive time as in a cooperative. Our very special Rabbi
Susman, is ever present and totally accessible.
It's almost an example of "You have to see and feel it, to believe it." While we are not surrounded by our own brick and mortar, we truly create a very real sanctuary wherever we gather. We extend a warm invitation to join us and experience yourselves the special quality that is Congregation Kol Am.
